Stroud Book Festival Contemporary Fiction Writing Competition
The Stroud Book Festival are excited to announce the winners of its literary competition, The Katie Fforde Award for Contemporary Fiction.
Author Katie Fforde generously donated the £100 prize and presented it to the winner at the end of the Romantic Fiction Day on 17 November, shortly after Jilly Cooper finished her talk.
Sarah Edghill, the winner said: “A huge thank you to everyone on the Festival team -
The writers were asked to submit a synopsis and a first chapter of up to 2000 words
for a contemporary novel.
This is Sarah’s synopsis: “Wrecking Ball is the story of a woman’s infatuation with a stranger. She can’t live without him... he barely knows she exists. It’s just a small picture in the local paper; Katie can’t explain why it sets her heart racing – but once that photo of local GP
Joe Harvey is tucked away in her handbag, her life will never be the same. Dreaming about them falling in love and running away together, the ordinary mother of two starts behaving in ways she would previously have thought insane. As Katie’s obsession threatens to destroy everything she values, their two worlds collide when Joe delivers shocking news.”
Well done and we await Sarah’s finished book with anticipation..
