And all things spoken, written and read

The Children’s Festival is visited by some great storytellers including our own Jamila Gavin, who last year curated the first Stroud Book Festival.

Jamila will tell the exciting story of The Odyssey and other journeys, and with the help of a big map take us all through dark forests and across perilous seas. Her fascinating free sessions are suitable for the whole family and take place in the Museum forecourt.

Another award-winning author, Linda Newbery, will run a workshop for age 7+ where we can hear about Lob, the Green Man and his travels, and get some insights and tips into storytelling and writing.

See the Festival Page for a list of events and how to book.

The Children’s Festival weekend starts on the evening of Friday 7 July with a visit from Michael Loader (Wild Words, Director of Somerset Storyfest) in a show called Glorious Greeks. Action packed and hugely entertaining, you can expect a mixture of storytelling, theatre, puppets  -  and participation!   Family fun at its very best!
